Optimizer WCS is used as a planning tool to assist in creating an optimal collection system capital improvement plan. It provides the engineering team with an efficient and objective process to evaluate the full range of feasible improvement options.
Optimizer WCS is Optimatics’ powerful decision support software for wastewater infrastructure planning. It links to the utility’s existing hydraulic model and allows the user to define unit cost rates, the range of allowable improvement options and hydraulic performance objectives which can then be referenced to elements within the hydraulic model.
When an optimization run is performed the Optimizer WCS software automatically generates thousands of complete hydraulic model configurations for different combinations of improvement options. For each solution configuration it runs the fully-dynamic hydraulic model for the selected design storm event(s), assesses the hydraulic performance and calculates the total project cost.
The optimization algorithm hones in on the least-cost solution using a unique combination of genetic algorithm (GA) optimization and a suite of implicit linear programming optimization routines developed specifically for collection systems.
