Senior Optimisation Engineer

Ben is a Senior Optimisation Engineer on the Strategic Support Team. He is responsible for engaging and collaborating with utilities and consultancies, offering training and support tailored to Optimatics’ software applications. Ben has a passion for automation, improving workflow efficiencies, and the development of data-driven solutions—all aimed at addressing the significant global challenges facing the water industry.

Ben’s professional background in the water sector is diverse, being involved in research, consulting services, and utilities. He has a strong background in modelling water systems, including water resources, groundwater, and urban drainage. He has 8 years of experience in the UK water sector focusing mainly on waste and stormwater networks, helping to address flooding, CSO spills, and pollution while planning for urban growth.

Ben holds a Master’s degree in Hydrology from the University of KwaZulu Natal and a PhD in Environmental and Geographical Science from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
