The Louisville & Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD), Kentucky has selected Optimatics and their award-winning OptimizerTM tool to assess alternative grey and green infrastructure practices to mitigate potential flooding in their CSO15 sewershed.

The software will be used to minimize the cost of new infrastructure required to reduce flooding and overflow volume for three alternative levels of service (2 years, 10 years and 9th event). In addition to the analysis of four (4) green infrastructure options initially identified in a 2012 study, Optimizer will evaluate alternative grey solutions, such as sewer separation and off-line storage. Recommendations of the assessment will be provided to MSD management for input into their current capital program.

“Optimatics appreciates the opportunity to partner with Louisville MSD on this project,” said John Howell, Midwest Regional Sales Director. “As a progressive organization, MSD understands the need to invest in technologies that generate efficiencies.”
