DISCOVER HOW OPTIMATICS CAN HELP IMPROVE YOUR SYSTEM
Corey Williams, Optimatics President and CEO, recently presented ‘Large and Small Municipal Utilities Benefit as Optimized Decision Support Identifies Least-Cost Improvements’ at the 2015 Utility Management Conference.
The presentation introduced the audience to an optimized decision support approach that has helped municipal wastewater and stormwater utilities identify lower-cost, better performing planning and design solutions as compared to current practice. The structured approach allows a better understanding of acceptable improvement options and ultimately to low-cost, unbiased, defensible solutions embraced by utility managers and staff, elected officials, stakeholders and the public.
The presentation highlighted a number of case studies undertaken by both large and small utilities aimed at reducing combined sewer overflows, sanitary sewer overflows, and /or system surcharge and flooding under design storm events. Case study representatives, and co-authors, included Tom Hickmann, Director of the Engineering and Infrastructure Planning Department, City of Bend, OR; Fernando Gonzalez, Assistant Division Manager, Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation, CA; Andy Cronberg, Assistant Director-Engineering & Fiscal Services, City of Fort Worth, TX; Steven Eubanks, Director Stormwater Management Division, City of Fort Worth, TX; and Wendy Reust, P.E., Senior Program Manager, Sewer, City of Fort Wayne, IN.
The Utility Management Conference is co-sponsored by the American Water Works Association and Water Environment Federation.
