OPTIMATICS

SENIOR OPTIMISATION ENGINEER – UK

    Optimatics is looking for a highly motivated water/wastewater engineer to join our Strategic Support Team. As part of the Strategic Support Team, you will support existing and new clients’ use of the Optimizer™ software to help optimise planning decisions within water infrastructure networks. Candidates should have strong backgrounds in hydraulic modelling and an ability to work closely with clients to help train and deliver successful hydraulic optimisation analyses.

      Technical:

      • Understanding of and experience working with water utility networks, both collection and distribution

      • Distribution/transmission system modelling experience (e.g., EPANET, WaterGEMS, InfoWorks WS Pro)

      • Collection system H&H modelling experience (e.g., EPASWMM, InfoWorks ICM, MIKE 1D)

      • Proficient in GIS software (ESRI ArcGIS and/or QGIS)

      Non-Technical:

      • Excellent communication skills
      • Project management experience
      • Ability to manage customer experience and relationships
      • Strong presentation and teaching abilities
      • Business skills in preparing and presenting business cases, communicating value to customers, and dealing with business process change
      • Support and guide utility and consultant engineers’ and planners’ applications of the Optimizer™ software

      • Deliver and guide user trainings and ongoing education
      • Explore opportunities for new applications with users
      • Provide strategic direction and insights for customers’ planning efforts
      • Assist with hydraulic model and input data review & preparation

        OPTIMIZATION ENGINEER/SENIOR OPTIMIZATION ENGINEER – NORTH AMERICA

        Optimatics is looking for a highly motivated water/wastewater engineer or data scientist to join our Strategic Support Team (SST). You will be joining a team of innovative thinkers and engineers working at the forefront of applying optimization and machine learning to water systems. As part of the SST, you will work directly with utilities from around the world on applications of optimization and machine learning to optimize planning decisions within water infrastructure networks.

        The SST is responsible for assisting, educating, and guiding users of Optimatics software as well as delivering pilot applications. The level of support that Optimatics provides customers goes far beyond that of traditional tech companies – support engineers act more like project partners for our utility and consulting clients. Candidates should have strong backgrounds in hydraulic modelling, data science, or optimization and be able to work closely with clients to help train and deliver successful hydraulic optimization analyses.

        Technical:

        • Understanding of and experience working with water utility networks, both collection and distribution
        • Distribution/transmission system modelling experience e.g., EPANET, WaterGEMS, InfoWorks WS Pro (additional collections system modelling experience is preferred)
        • Experience with asset management, data science, or risk assessment
        • Proficient in GIS software (ESRI ArcGIS and/or QGIS)
        Non-Technical:

        • Excellent communication skills
        • Project management experience
        • Ability to manage customer experience and relationships
        • Strong presentation and teaching abilities
        • Business skills in preparing and presenting business cases, communicating value to customers, and dealing with business process change

        • Deliver applications of the Optimizer™ or AssetAdvanced™ software in connection with a range of hydraulic modelling software and datasets

        • Explore opportunities for new applications with users
        Support product development, including:

        • Identify and scope new functionality as appropriate
        • Test new functionality and identify upgrades to Optimizer™
        • Assist with software and project documentation
        • Use customer feedback to inform roadmap for software development

        Support business development including:

        • Provide technical business development support and assist with development of marketing strategies and materials
        • Represent Optimatics at industry conferences as appropriate

        Travel to current and potential customers (as appropriate)

        • Understanding of and practical experience working on public utility asset management challenges & projects
        • Knowledge of and experience with optimisation techniques and their application to water systems
        • Experience with Python, JavaScript, Ruby, or other languages

        • Proficiency in Japanese or experience working on and managing international and multilingual projects
