2025 Optimatics Project of the Year Winner

January 9, 2026

2 minute read

This year, we introduced a new initiative, the Optimatics Project of the Year Award. This recognition gives the Optimatics team and our clients the opportunity to reflect on the past year and highlight a project that exemplified innovation and collaboration and showcased measurable outcomes that will create lasting value for utilities and communities.

Congratulations to Kurume City, Japan, and our delivery partners Toa Grout, Applied Technology Co., LTD, and Yachiyo Engineering Co., Ltd. for being awarded the 2025 Project of the Year Award! This achievement reflects the extraordinary impact their work had on both the community and the future of water infrastructure in Japan.

While there were many impactful projects that stood out this year, the use of AssetAdvanced™ in Kurume City stood out for a number of reasons.

The project distinguished itself by unlocking and validating Kurume City’s GIS data, enabling the city to take ownership of its information and apply AI-driven insights for smarter infrastructure planning. Field testing confirmed that high-risk pipes identified by AssetAdvanced were, in fact, leaking. Identifying and addressing those issues will reduce non-revenue water and strengthen the water supply. Beyond local impact, the project supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals for clean water and global partnerships, setting a benchmark for sustainable and equitable water management.

This award celebrates not only technical achievements but also the leadership, vision, and collaboration that made this project possible. Kurume City and Toa Grout have demonstrated how data-driven innovation can transform communities and inspire resilience.

We are proud to recognize this work as a shining example of what’s possible when technology and partnership come together. Congratulations to the project team! We look forward to our continued partnership!
